People are just now becoming accustomed to using wireless LANs in the workplace. They are realizing that they don't have to be plugged in continuously and that they can easily be online wherever they go, not only within the workplace, but also in public places. Over the next five years, wireless hot spots will flourish, extending out to many more public locations. Wireless access is already growing and flourishing in many cities. Already, at bus stations, airports, and a number of places where people typically have idle time, wireless access is becoming more commonplace. Wireless adoption is progressing in much the same way as cellular phones did. What is now somewhat limited in terms of usage will become ubiquitous. Over the next five years, we will also see wireless solutions carrying voice and data. Eventually, we will have just one wireless infrastructure that allows people to make calls, watch movies, listen to music and communicate in new and exciting ways.
